User Experience Case Studies

The term creative guru has been used to describe me

My approach to work is similar to my approach in life – Pay attention to the details (NOTE: the details aren’t just the details, the details are everything), and be willing to explore different avenues all while moving towards identified goals. Each project is approached by identifying a holistic viewpoint while thinking outside the box in order to create and deliver a unique and complete vision.

Case Study: User Access

Case Study: User Access

Insperity Site Security is the application that allows HR Administrators to grant end users access and permission to utilize Insperity’s platform for employee services and manager self-service features. Site Security is a legacy application and hasn’t been updated in over a decade, but it keeps adding more security roles. It is in need of an update to allow Insperity to remain competitive with other HRIS systems in the market.
Purpose of the update is to make the portals security settings easy to find, reimagine the application so that it’s scalable and flexible, help client HR admins understand how and when to maintain access for end users, and to eliminate the need for assistance from Insperity to utilize the application.

Case Study: Premier

Case Study: Premier

Insperity’s platform (EmployeeServiceCenter) was due for a redesign. With the addition of newer applications, it was time to revisit the the overall site architecture and concept it in a way that content was focused on user actions. The UX goal was to evaluate and deliver recommendations, as well as propose patterns and design direction for navigation, services, user actions and interest. To accomplish this, workflows were provided to educate the current state of the site and motivate all users to utilize a task advantage of both EmployeeServiceCenter’s inclusive and free-based resources. Insperity Employee Service Center (ESC) was focused on content first and apps & actions second. With Insperity Premier, we needed to flip this. The new platform would be geared toward user actions first and content second/as needed.

Case Study: PSO Notes

Insperity PerformSmart is Insperity’s performance tracking application. To track your early achievements, there is a feature called ‘Log Events’ This isn’t widely used by PerformSmart users, nor is it easily discoverable or clear about its intended use. Log Events have limited value for those who do use it due to it’s lack of networking (360 feedback) capabilities, inability to link events to goals, lack of document attachment support, and ability to keep events private unless otherwise stated. PerformSmart Log Events has been around since the application’s release, but very few end users utilized the feature. The feature isn’t easily discoverable or clear about its intended use. PerformSmart Log Events have limited value for those who do use them, due to it’s lack of peer-to-peer feedback, no ability to link attachments, inability to tie into goals, and the fact that other tools available to end users (MS Word, Outlook, User Defined Folder Structures) do what Log Events should be able to do.

Case Study: Compensation

Case Study: Compensation

Clients had no way of adding new codes (pay types) or managing their employees compensation without help from an Insperity payroll specialist. In order to provide this feature to clients, we needed a way to add & update pay codes as needed, while also maintaining a clear distinction between what was the employee’s base pay (agreed upon wages) and what was additional pay (allowances for each pay period).

UX Certified

UX Certified

October 10th, 2018 I got my certification for ‘User Experience’ through Neilson Norman Group (NN/g}. What’s User Experience (UX)? Long Story short, If a thing exists that has a use (example: a teapot) then there is an experience, good or bad, behind that use of that thing. Example a teapot with the handle on the same side of the spout = poor user experience, move handle opposite the spout = not necessarily good, but definitely better user experience. My certifications: This is the second piece of paper I’ve acquired since my BFA in 2006. I know, I’m a real go-getter! In all seriousness, I may not have very many certifications, but I do have the evolution of my skillsets on my side. Since graduating High school I’ve constantly been evolving and expanding as a professional whatever I choose to put my mind to.
