Caliente is a Mexican restaurant located in the City of Central, Louisiana.

Ricardo Barraza approached me in need of design services. He had already decided that he was going to call the name of the restaurant 'Caliente: Mexican Craving' but he needed help in establishing a look for what he wanted.

Caliente is a Spanish word meaning 'the heat', So with that in mind, a good direction was already provided. The idea was to figure out how to play off of this meaning, sell Ricardo on the idea, and still have the final deliverable be legible to this cliental.

The decision to use hot colors was a must to complete this project. Flames and smoke, along with burnt and cracked edges we mixed into the design to truly give it that high temperature feeling. The concept was to make it feel and look hot, and that's exactly what he got. As an added bonus, the logo that was provided was also manipulated to match the new.
